Step 1:Preparing the Mower
1. Park your mower on a flat, level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely.
3. Engage the parking brake.
4. Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug.
Step 2:Locate the Valve Covers
1. The valve covers are located on the top of the engine.
2. There are two valve covers, one for the intake valve and one for the exhaust valve.
Step 3:Removing the Valve Covers
1. Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts that hold the valve covers in place.
2. Carefully remove the valve covers.
3. Place the valve covers in a safe place where they won't be lost or damaged.
Step 4:Measure and Adjust the Valve Clearances
1. Pomocí spárové měrky změřte vůli mezi vahadlem a dříkem ventilu.
2. The correct clearance for both the intake and exhaust valves is 0.005 inches.
3. If the clearance is too tight, loosen the locknut on the rocker arm and turn the adjusting screw clockwise.
4. If the clearance is too loose, tighten the locknut on the rocker arm and turn the adjusting screw counterclockwise.
Step 5:Reinstall the Valve Covers
1. Carefully place the valve covers back in place.
2. Reinstall the bolts that hold the valve covers in place.
3. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
Step 6:Reconnect the Spark Plug Wire
1. Reconnect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
2. Start the lawnmower and let it run for a few minutes.
Check for any leaks around the valve covers. If there are any leaks, tighten the bolts further.
For Stratton:
1. Prepare the riding mower. Park it on a flat surface, turn off the engine and allow it to cool down, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the spark plug wire.
2. Find the valve covers. They are located on the top of the engine, with one for the intake valve and one for the exhaust valve.
3. Remove the valve covers. Use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts holding the valve covers in place and then carefully remove them. Uschovejte je na bezpečném místě.
4. Změřte vůli ventilu. Use a feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the rocker arm and the valve stem. The correct clearance for both the intake and exhaust valves is 0.006 inches.
5. Adjust the valve clearance. If the clearance is not correct, loosen the locknut on the rocker arm and turn the adjusting screw clockwise to reduce the clearance or counterclockwise to increase the clearance. Tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment.
6. Reinstall the valve covers. Replace the valve covers and secure them with the bolts you removed earlier. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
7. Reconnect the spark plug wire. Reattach the spark plug wire to the spark plug and start the engine. Let it run for a few minutes to check for any leaks around the valve covers. If there are leaks, tighten the bolts further.
